Important REMINDERS

  • You are required by law to report any change of U.S. address within ten days of such change to the immigration service. You may change your address online by completing Form AR-11 at https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=coa.Terms. After you complete your change of address online, you will be given a confirmation number which may be used as legal evidence to show that you notified the immigration service of your change of address. Please make sure to print and save this confirmation.

  • Please do not make final travel plans until your visa has been issued and you are in receipt of your passport. Visa processing times are always subject to change and you may have to undergo security clearances which may further delay the issuance of your visa.

  • When you enter the United States in your new nonimmigrant status (e.g., H-1B, L-1, etc.), please be sure that you show your new visa to the immigration officer and answer any questions in accordance with your nonimmigrant status. Also be sure that the immigration officer writes the corresponding visa status (e.g., H-1B or L-1, etc.) on your Form I-94 card, as well as writes the correct expiration date shown on your Form I-797 Approval Notice.

  • Please let us know your initial entry date into the United States in your particular visa status.

  • Please make sure to send us copies of your new visa and Form I-94 as soon as you enter the United States. Also, make sure to take your passport and Form I-797 Approval Notice to show your Human Resources Representative in order to comply with I-9 Employment Verification.

  • Keep us informed of any international travel plans which you think may affect your nonimmigrant legal status, as well as any significant changes in your job duties or job location.

  • Passports must be valid for at least six months after the date of your interview in order for a visa to be placed in the passport. If your passport has less than six months’ validity, please make sure you extend its validity before your interview. Exceptions may apply for some countries.

  • Passports should be valid for at least the duration of your visa validity date; otherwise you may receive a shorter duration of stay on your Form I-94.

  • As a permanent resident of the United States, you must carry your Alien Registration Card (green card) with you at all times.

  • Once becoming a permanent resident of the United States, please make sure to record all exit and entry travel dates to and from the United States, as well as the countries visited in order to comply with the US naturalization requirements.
